Surrealism Abroad and the Art of Wormhole Maintenance

i:m hating on Mother Nature. why do you have to make the rain so cold, dammit? and what brilliant Japanese decided that central heating isn:t necessary? i mays well be teaching out on a cloud cuz my classroom, completely windowed on two walls, is just as frigid. awwwwwwwwwe ya, it:s tuesday morning and i:m bitchy! i always dislike going back to work after a weekend.

last night i went for drinks and darts with Dan, Louise, and Kylie. my first round i hit the bullseye 3x in a row. well, obviously, imean i am a dart fiend after all. new mission; hit 450 in one game and get my picture on the wall at Sunny Side Up! in the afternoon Mizuko came over and we cooked tempura all afternoon. it:s really simple to make. you buy the tempura flour and make a batter, dip yr stuff in it, and then fry it up. we made pumpkin, eggplant, shrimp, mushrooms, and a mizture of sweet potato, carrots, and onions. after that we headed to the movies to see Matrix Revolutions. when did it open in North America? it just came out here last week. i have to say i:m thoroughly disappointed at the movie. the second one was much better. and i don:t even get the end. what:s that? the matrix still, or real life? and if it:s real life what happened to all teh machines? and what happened to Neo?? argh!!! is there an www.idon:tgetit.com/movies i can go to er something?

on sunday night michelle and i hung out and it was actually a really fun time considering we didn:t do much of anything but cook pizza, play uno, play tetris and megaman, and decorated my sticker photo album. then... the Buu called. ya know if i didn:t find this whole affair so hilarious, and if it wasn:t such a source of entertainment in my life, i would be creeped out by this dude. so we had a lil Japenglish conversation and finally i:m like dude, i have to go, cuz i hate talking on the phone when i:m at someone else:s house, and he:s like ok... (well, that whole conversation took about 7 minutes) but then he calls me back like 2 minutes later and he:s all *Listen, Danielle, i LOVE you!* hahahaa. i:m like no! no you don:t! love is warui, LIKE is saiko (which is terrible caveman japanese for love is bad, Like is much better) Saiko, pronounced Psycho, means *tha best"!* in japanese. so now i can call people psycho with wild abandon n if they get pissed i can just chalk it up to a bad language translation.

oh yes, my bday is rapidly approaching and i see someone has asked for what goodies i would like! well i:ll try to make it simple... light and flat things that i want... which is kinda difficult because japan is honestly based on convenience and you can get the strangest lil things here. like this powder you put in your used up cooking oil which turns it into a hard rock for easy disposal. or hello kitty earpicks. or stickers that will allow you to apply perfectly round beautymarks to your body. so really, all i want in life is nachos. and red raspberry leaf tea. and peppermint tea. and Qtips that are nice and fluffy. and maybe some... hmm.... oh my stars SEND ME MUESLI OR QUAKER OATS INSTANT OATMEAL. YES! that:s what i want. it:s so hard to find and redickulously overpriced when you do.

and send me some cheap rice. one would assume that living in Japan rice would be cheap but au contraire. one thing i:ve learned, the hard way, is to make NO ASSUMPTIONS about even the littlest thing. you may think something is completely logical and the common way it:s done back home, but that:s not always the case in another country.

i had the best dream ever this morning. i wouldn:t get out of bed until i dreamt a good dream. honestly, this is the second best dream i:ve had since i:ve been here. my dreams are extremely vivid and real but since i moved here i can barely remember them, and it makes me really sad cuz i really feel that a part of my life is missing. i attach the same importance to my dreams as i do my waking reality, if not more. so anways, it:s hard to translate into words what this dream was about but i woke up feeling so in touch with the universal ways and confident that each of us really does have a magical power to do special things when the time comes. plus i saw Mr. MacKewon (sorry for the sp) in it at the Chapples Track Field and for some reason i was sooo excited to see him. i seem to dream of past teachers a lot.

actually a few years ago i used to have this recurring dream about the closet at St. Thomas. for all you who went there you know what one i:m talking about. the one at the end of the hall that housed all the art supplies, construction paper, sparkles, and an entire shelf of fetal pigs and asst:d animals floating in tiny jars of formaldehyde. they used to tell us that when we were older, like in gr 6, we would be using those for science... but when i was in gr 6 we never did. which kinda creeped me out as to why all these animal feti were chillin in the closet. anyway my dream would be about me going into that room and looking for something... it was always so haunting but i would stay inside and not leave until i found what it was i was looking for. in some dreams i would find hidden passages and secret escapes from the room... it got to the point where i truly wanted to go to the school and ask if i could see the room in the hopes it would trigger some memory or give me a clue to this lil mystery... i never did though, and eventually the dreams ceased. but still some days i wonder why. why did i dream about that room so much? maybe it was just another background scenery for the dream theme of constantly searching but never finding... ya know if the goddesses would just tell me what i:m looking for, maybe it would be a lil easier to find... but contrarywise that would ruin the mystery of life...

well i think i:ve rambled on enough... tash i got yr letter and might write you... ugh, that sounds like a whole lotta effort... but for you my lil snugglebugg i just might do it!
