could i be more slothly? i:ve had all day to get my azz down to Tokyo and here i am, 5;30pm, still not there! today i basically cleaned up cuz Taka:s staying at my place while i:m gone (oh who can resist my tatami floors and rice cooker?), and avoided laundry the whole day by sleeping and emailing Cam, who was also glued to her bed, in Omiya. but it:s all good in the hood cuz I:M ON VACATION BABY! WOOOOOOOOOOOO! GOLDEN WEEK HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! yeah! yeah yeah! Cam and i are trekking to Shikoku for some serious maxing and relaxing and catching up on sleep and getting rid of our sick. yet again, i:m yakking up bile and gobby yellow shizz at random intervals throughout the day.

even if Japanland is killing me, at least i:m having wild fun in the process!

so let:s see what i:ve been up to... last weekend... oh gad no that was two weeks ago... i hauled down to Okayama for a (nervewracking) interview for a new position, which i subsequently got! yay! starting in October i:ll be working in Okayama as an assistant area trainer with a nice fat raise and a whole new side of japan to squander it on! awwwwwwwww ya baby! Okayama was lush and green and humid and beautiful... as was spending the weekend with Cam in Tokyo. well, save for the humid part. but it did get up to 25:C! we just pissed around, shopped, spent out nights at Jonathon:s all night diner, and hit up Shinjuku on my last night and went to a do-it-yourself okonomiyake restaurant which was QUITE the experience! i arrived back in Iwaki on tuesday morning clocking a weekend total of two hours of sleep from sunday night. and i:m STILL trying to catch up! last weekend was sarah:s birthday and that involved some serious drinking and singing and geez... i can:t say i:ve really been sleeping all that well lately. plus i:ve been plagued by strange nightmares and i:m STILL, 8 months after the fact, waking up at 4.38am in a state of wild panic. what the fuck?

last weekend i think was pretty lazy, just watched some movies, recovered from friday night... oh and on monday Taka and i went to KS for brekkie/lunch (interesting lil nugget. brekkie=asagohan, lunch=hirugohan, dinner=bangohan in japanese which literally translates into morning rice, afternoon rice, and evening rice) and then went to the sea at Shinmaiko beach. Ocean Danielle, ocean. i:m trying to regain my normal engrish now... Taks brought my board and did some ill tricks, there:s actually a really good place to skate right on the beach. there:s lil tiled areas that have statues of all the signs of the horoscope and you can weave in and around then.. KS was delightful as usual and i was back there a mere 4 hours later when i met Mizuko and learned some japanese. oh and of course i went there on tuesday after work to meet up with louise, sarah, and atsuko. sarah got a killer tat on her back on tuesday and i think KS was intended to ease some of the pain... i didn:t go with her as i had to work but louise said the sound of the drill made her not ever want to get one! now, you would think i:d be sushied out, but i:m not. in fact, i must say after returning my movie i:m heading to KS before hopping on the bus! sushied out, no. resembling a piece of sushi, yes. oh gad i have a month to get in bikini shape for malaysia.... oh! speaking of which, my school kicked ass making spirits (monthly targets for no of new students we need) and THUS we, a couple weeks after i return from singapore and malaysia, get to go on a free trip to either Kyoto, or universal studios japan, in osaka! full-on!

last night kyles and louise came over for some dinner, whipped up a lil Thai/INdian mix of dishes and then just chilled n got pissed... literally, cuz Kyles kept making these sweeping cultural generalizations and louise and i were just loooosing it! then lil Taks came over yada yada yada my parents read this page. ;) things are pretty full-on with him. my japanese is going through the roof, and i:ve never met someone who makes me piss my pants laughing the way he does. oh deah oh deah... i:m giggling just thinking about his lil Forever Fever dance impression...

today as i was near the train station i saw the most full-on ko gyarus. i swear i:ve never felt true fright until this day (can you guess what movie i:m returning??) three of them, all tanned with stickers all over their faces and one dressed in a cat costume, one in a tiger costume, and one in a cow costume. i looked down at them sitting on the curb and just froze. i was like holy shit what the hell is this?! and then i kinda snapped outta it and they were talking a bit of engrish to me. it:s so cute how everyone wants to practice their engrish with you, just random people on the street *Hello! i like sky!* *my name is yusaku! american girls cute!* today, and i feel it might be because of my outfit (jet black head to toe with my snazzy new dark green and flo yellow vans suped up with lime green laces -- i:m so flyyyy!--) but i:ve been getting the gaijin staredown like nothing else, and i:ts either, depending on the height of my internal neurosis, really funny or really fucking annoying. today, a bit of both.

ok ok i have to book it... guess i:ll take the 7pm train... tonite we:re staying in Yokohama with Gina, and then early tom morning taking a plane to Osaka, where we:ll hit up the aquarium and liberty museum before heading to Kobe to take a bus across to SHikoku! ya baby! wooo! woo wooo dreadlock rastas in the heart of japan!! here we come shikoks!!! i:ll send picture from my Ktai! love and peanut butter cookies! (mmmm... miss those!)
